Making rest a priority
Many of us feel guilty about just doing nothing. We feel obligations to others, especially if we have families, and feel pressure we put on ourselves to “get stuff done”. In my own life, I often long to just sit by the window and read a novel, but I feel somehow like I can’t until I’ve completed a long to-do list or given enough time to friends and family.
Rest is so important though. If we can’t find time to recharge, we actually have less of ourselves to give to others or to our own projects. It really is like trying to run on low batteries. We need to fill ourselves back up to be our best selves. So try blocking out time for yourself. Add it to your calendar, just like an appointment. Make it a priority.
